I purchased a house in June 2015 that I knew needed remodeling completed. The house was originally built in the 1970s with minimal changes made to it since then. Some of the items I saw that needed to be completed to bring it up to date were an updated kitchen counter top and a bathroom makeover.
I decided to attack the bathroom first. The funny thing is when I told everyone I had a 1970s blue bathtub and toilet and wanted to update it, many people said not to and to leave the blue because it is better quality and coming back in style. Not sure if I believe either of those statements, but I decided to leave it blue and remodel around the blue color. I figured I could always upgrade the bathtub and toilet at a later date. Below are some of the before and after pictures.

The kitchen was in relatively good shape other than needing some appliance updates and a new countertop. I hated the tile countertop that was there when I bought the house. I had considered doing a complete remodeling, but decided against it at this time. Below are some of the before and after kitchen makeover pictures:
New Kitchen Sink. I love size and depth of this compared to what I had before.
